Shechinah Association Johor Bahru
Shechinah Association Johor Bahru, also known as Pertutubuhan Kebajikan Shechinah Johor Bahru, was incorporated under the EROSES with a RegNo:PPM-006-01-19042018.
The association’s goals are to reach out to people in need, by providing them with a helping hand to get back up in life. No one should feel they’re hopeless, as long as there’s hope, there is an opportunity for goodness to happen. Together with the cooperation of an extraordinary team of people, we are now leading and running the Association. What started as an inner vision, has now becomea reality and a mission.
We are honoured to be a part of a great country, and a part of the wonderful state of Johor, where we are witnessing a rapid growth of a great metropolitan city.
We take pride in being part of this great state and as much as we take pride in our patriotism and devotion to our nation, we believe that we as a nation should not leave the under privileged behind. We must help them progress together with the rest, and we consider this as an ACT of PATRIOTISM.
Our objective is to reach out to help people who have been beaten down in life and would like to offer them help to get back in track.
We also have a vision to help develop rural places, especially in their educational and basic provisional needs like clean water and personal hygiene. Our dedicated team are currently working on such rural development programs in Orang Asli Village’s in the Kahang, Johor area.
We know of many, especially in the urban society, who are in poverty are living in a neglected state. We want to be a helping hand in providing education, meeting their need of proper food, shelter and clothing. Gangsterism, organized crime, drugs/alcohol abuse, prostitution and other social illnesses have been the by- product of the neglect in these areas. We are ready to assist the government and welfare organizations in any way that we are able too.
Our team is also dedicated to assist in the development of our younger generation. We believe that setting the younger generation on the right path would have a significant impact on our future and would contribute positively to the growth and development of our nation. Organizations such as churches, educational institutes and business owners are working with us to organize youth development programs such as holding motivational talks, support groups and on job skill training programs.
Founder's Statement
James Issachar
My name is James Issachar. I was brought up under a Military influenced upbringing as my father, Mr. Daniel Ponnusamy, was then a Staff Sargent with the Royal Malaysian Army.
Everything revolved around discipline and order. I didn’t understand the value of those teaching’s then but as I began to mature, the teachings I received started to turn out for my benefit. I was able to put into practise what I learned from my father and it turned out to make my life more fruitful.
I have always felt, and still feel, that God is always looking out for me by giving me all that I need and removing all that I don’t. God is good as He has given me wonderful parents, wonderful brothers, a wonderful wife, and great kids.
When I was a teenager, I began to stray away into a terrible life of gangsterism, addiction and other unhealthy habits. It brought me to see and understand certain matters relating to the darker side of society. It would be a long story to mention all these in detail, but if anyone wishes to know more about me, I’ll be glad to have a chat with you over coffee. Nevertheless, I thank God Almighty for delivering me from that dark path and for revealing my purpose in life as I continue my race in this world. To be truthful, I still find many areas of my purpose in this life being gradually revealed. I can’t find one thing but many other purposes and who am I to question God what he wants me to do! Difficult to understand, complicated by I’m still learning.
Life’s experience and divine intervention have encouraged me to step into this work. I wouldn’t be able to do much at all, if not for the wonderful team, which gives great support to this Ministry. It’s never an easy task impacting lives but let’s just do it!
Shechinah means the Glory or presence of God. We believe that God is able to change lives as so many of us have experienced before. Thus, we have chosen that name as we know that God’s presence (Shechinah) will make a difference in this Ministry and in impacting people’s lives.
And where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom – 2 Corinthians 3:17.
